I tasted five new-to-me South African wines—two whites and three reds—during this month's Thursday Night Swirl at Abbotsford's Ramada Plaza.
The '08 Winery of Good Hope Chenin Blanc and '05 Glen Carlou Grand Classique (a Bordeaux-style blend) were my favourites, with the '04 Mulderbosch Shiraz a very close third.
The '08 Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc and '05 Leopard Frog Tribe (50% Pinotage, 38% Pinot Noir and 12%Cinsault) didn't make my hit parade.
Many thanks to Rose Siemens, manager of Whatcom Wine & Spirits, who puts together these great little wine-tasting shindigs.
Salut!
