Local Fresh Food Market. The name's not fancy or catchy or the brainchild of a downtown marketing wizard, but it sure says it all—
local fresh food in a neighbourhood market.
Farmers, artisan food producers, and artists from the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Similkameen, and Okanagan have come together in Vancouver to give the residents of the 12th-and-Cambie neighbourhood (right across the street from Firefly Wines and Ales) access to the fresh (often harvested just hours earlier) and prepared foods and products usually available at far-away locations only.
I was lucky to meet several of the new owners/suppliers/operators of this re-named and re-configured market (it was formerly known as Home Grow-in Grocer) last week during a media event and it pleases me that our Vancouver friends can now easily find and buy much of the bounty I'm used to out here in the Fraser Valley.
These 10 farmers, producers, artists, and suppliers are the new owners:
Apple Barn Cider Mill Blue Comet Seafoods Book Nook Cocolico DeN-NeM Wood Products |
Gelderman Farms Parsons Farm Market Redl Home Grown Beef Thomas Reid Farms Wild Coast Edibles |
Cheers to you!
