Dish 'n Dazzle 2012 benefits the BC Hospitality Foundation

Mixologists, chefs, and wine aficionados are preparing to converge at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver to raise money to support the BC Hospitality Foundation. And you can, too.

Celebrate spring in Oliver, wine capital of Canada

Looking for a wine-infused springtime break? The Spring Okanagan Wine Festival runs May 4 – 13, with tasty, juicy events throughout B.C.’s famed wine region. And, if you look closely, you’ll find one of our wine world’s best-kept secrets: Banée.

This year, the inaugural Banée Pig Out on May 5 promises to please palates that range from simple to super sophisticated.

Coming together outdoors under a tent at Covert Farms in Oliver are local chefs and 23 Oliver-Osoyoos wineries who promise to tickle tongues with flavours, textures and pairings that just may cause spines to shiver. From pig roasting to an open blind wine-tasting competition, the afternoon is filled with three hours of pure food-and-wine fun.

I can’t wait. So many great wines to taste.

The Oliver Osoyoos Banée began about 10 years ago and was fashioned after the festival in France where winemakers gather to celebrate the end of pruning and the anticipation of bud break.

While our Okanagan Banée has been used these past 10 years as a vehicle to enlighten wine media and industry insiders about the region’s wines, the folks of the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association thought it was time to include the public; hence you have Pig Out.
