Stopped in at Celista Estate Winery during our most recent gal-pal weekend. According to proprietor Jake Ootes, Celista is the northernmost winery in B.C. You will find it up the slopes from Shuswap Lake.
After walking the cute pathway to the tasting room, which faces a lovely picnic setting and view, we tasted through three whites, a rosé, and two reds: Celista Cuvée, Gewurtztraminer, Ortega, Marg's Rosé, Inspired Madness (Marechal Foch), and Oak Barrel Foch Reserve. Of these wines, the light and fruity Ortega ($18/12.5% ABV) was my favourite.
Some of these wines are marked as B.C. VQA, and some are not. All the grapes are estate grown, Ootes said.
