My good friend Leeann from Town Hall Brands is a whiz with her sword. Watch as she shows you how to sabre (the act is called sabrage) your sparkler and bring a little 'wow' to your party. I'll add that you should be sure the wine (especially the neck) is very cold.
And yes, the bubbly from Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna is perfectly fine to drink (and share).

We enjoyed two bottles of Italian wine from my Opimian collection during our evening of homemade minestrone soup and focaccia bread earlier this week.
We sipped the Soave, all by itself, before dinner and the Barbera D'Alba during.
Unfortunately, I didn't take proper tasting notes and the empty bottles are long gone into recycling, so I can't give you information from the labels or precise colour, flavour, and aroma impressions. But I can tell you this: The white wine was lively and fruity, with a hint of minerality. The Barbera D'Alba was full of juicy red fruit, with an earthiness and acid level that paired perfectly with the soup.
We really liked both wines ... and the soup ... and the bread.
