A spectacular view of Mt. Baker combines with hop bines in full bloom to serve as backdrop to the first-ever BeerBQ event, which is set to tickle the taste buds of BBQ and BC craft beer lovers alike with 11 sets of competitors.
Admittedly, wine is my forte. But I am coming to love the grain-and-hop beverage nearly as much as the one made from grapes! Last year's inaugural BC Hop Fest celebrating fresh craft beer (and held at the same venue) was a great learning experience.
Those who know me well are aware that in addition to craft beer, the barbeque has become a relatively recent fascination. So much so that I invested in a Big Green Egg last summer and have been experimenting on family and friends ever since: Baking bread, smoking chicken, slow-roasting various meats, grilling steaks, slow-cooking chili and stew, making the best pizza in the world, and more. I find it a fairly steep learning curve—it is nothing like your typical gas grill—but I am loving every moment of it.
The exciting thing is, on July 16 both my new loves come together here in the Fraser Valley. Please join me if you can.
