It's not often one can use the words rustic and luxury while describing the same destination, but at Rowena's Inn on the River at Pretty Estates Resort in Harrison Mills, BC, that's what you get.
The four of us were guests for a night in early fall. Unfortunately, we experienced a medical emergency that took three of our four away, which leaves me to speak--briefly, but with heart--for the group.
First, I have to say that the staff and fellow patrons at River's Edge Restaurant were fabulous during our "emergency." Everyone made our group comfortable and kept us from fretting. And when the emergency response team came from Agassiz, they, too, were fabulous.

The River's Edge menu and wine list is maturing ... that is to say, it's becoming better and better as time goes by.
The rooms in Rowena's Inn, in the house, are filled with old-
world charm and a certain elegance of times gone by. Thankfully, there is also the comfort of
present-day amenities.
The cabins at Pretty Estates, right on the Sandpiper Golf Course, are where luxury and rustic come to work together. A comfortable bed with beautiful linens, deep bathtub, and huge real-wood fireplace set the scene and are perfect for a cool night. In the morning, a gourmet hot breakfast arrives at the doorstep. Thankfully, three of us were back for breakfast, which was hearty and delicious.
There is so much to do in the area ... even if you don't golf.
Take in the Circle Farm Tour (or parts of it) or get a massage riverside. Go fishing or horseback riding. Take in afternoon tea. Go bird watching or eagle viewing. Of course, certain activities are restricted by weather and season, but you get the idea.
If you've never seen or watched eagles, take a look at this live eagle cam and make plans to attend the Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival, which runs over four weekends, beginning Nov. 16.
Happy Travels!
