When the old industry dies, the world doesn't stop and wait for a new business model to arrive before carrying on. Newspapers especially are right in that transition point. We forget though that the ad-supported, 4th estate newspaper model only existed for a small period of time in the history of journalism. Before that was party press and owners who used the press to influence events instead of just covering them.
